ALPSP clean up<br />- Anne sent an email to Stuart Silcox (Swets) &amp; Faye Abrams (OCUL) concerning those subscriptions we held with individual publishers/vendors which have now been cancelled and for which we no longer have archival online access<br />- once we get a response we may rethink the information we are providing to our users &amp;gt; possibly add something to the 98 titles we cancelled to say this title has been continued via ALPSP<br />- so far there is no SFX target for ALPSP so access to these titles via Swets is not yet appearing on the e-journal portal; once this happens it will all be much clearer for our users<br />2. Brief records<br />- Online access is available.Are we still creating brief records?Or, is it now time that we learn to bring in a OCLC record?<br />- staff will continue creating brief records until when they are trained to import OCLC records (+ all that goes with it) in the fall<br />- maintenance staff will try to review the binders of brief records which are currently in Bib </span>]]></description>

Val. should be closer to the rest of the staffs (S/Proc.)? or stay where we are with minor changes? - py<br />4. Loaded records... Is there a way to know the lists (e-package) of the freeloads(?) which we should not rely on in our Bib.? (sort of choosing May 1st as the official start date)<br />Serials / e-maintenance staff (looking for a new name for this group) – possibly Resource Management Services – Pauline created a wiki (http://resourcemanagement.pbwiki.com/) to manage all the new procedures, workflows, etc.<br />Working on who will handle materials which used to be sent to LC Searching, added volumes, adding electronic to previously print only records, ceased titles, etc.<br />All staff will be trained on SFX/Verde/Serials Solutions to differing degrees – still need to decide who will do what parts.<br />We are looking for a new name for the combined Acquisitions / Cataloguing section. <span style="color:red;background-color:#fcc;">The things to remember:<br />1) there are some 787's for cataloguing purposes,  they do NOT have a bib.<br />no. in a subfield w. Do not use one of these for  financial links, create<br />another tag (yes, it's duplicate text)<br />2) 787's  for financial purposes must have a subfield w with the bib. no.<br />3) All links  must be reciprocal, i.e. if there is a link to your record,<br />there must also  be a link in that record back to the record you have.<br />Therefore, if you  delete a 787, you MUST also delete the reciprocal link in<br />the other  record.<br />4) Packages have links only back to the main title, which will have  links to<br />all the titles in the package.<br />5) Bib. nos. that are the old way  (i.e. ABN8860) can be left as is, but if<br />you have the newer bib. no. at  hand, please change it.<br />Coding for 787's (which you should already  know):<br />--first indicator is a one (1)<br />--use the title from any 130 as the  title instead of the 245 title<br />--the title goes in subfield t NOT subfield a. Only remote electronic access (i.e. Internet) can be added to a print record.<br />Do not add electronic access to a Health Sciences record. Notify &quot;g-libcat&quot;<br />Do not add electronic access unless McMaster has full-text access<br />If the print format is ceased but the electronic format continues, do not add access, as a new electronic format record must be created<br />Databases and websites must be treated carefully. <span style="color:red;background-color:#fcc;">Serials Assistant / Added Volume Titles<br />Last revised: 12 Mar. 2007<br />Kathy/Mary/Angela will continue to process the following titles:<br />- &quot;latest&quot; or &quot;current&quot; issue in holdings<br />- Research Collections<br />- Lieferungen and Fascicules (unbound parts of volumes)<br />- Canadian Abridgment suite of titles<br />All the rest Pauline/Sandy/Linda/Lydia will do.<br />To set up a title, for the first time:<br />Edit the following in Serials Control:<br />Item Creation: Tick off &quot;With barcodes&quot;<br />Item type in Serials Control: check that it is &quot;norm&quot; for circulating titles and &quot;nonc&quot; for non-circulating titles.<br />Special Handling Note:<br />- delete current information<br />- add Call #, Serials Processing - Open Set - [collection code]<br />Workslip Note:<br />- delete (usually pasting into Special Handling Note) information (empty box will stop workslip production)<br />Pre-Checkin Note<br />- current date &quot;Staff will create item record which will be generated at check-in</span>]]></description>
